Book Clubs are an excellent way to get library patrons engaging online. At the Riverina Regional Library we have thirty book clubs registered with the
RRL Book Club. They pay $350 per club to receive ten tubs per year containing ten copies of one title plus background notes and discussion questions.
We have created a
wiki for the club and it ensures not only that all club members have access to the discussion guides before their meetings but also provides a way for the members of the different clubs to interact. The clubs are encouraged to add reviews and comments about how their club reacted to each book that they read.
The
Beyond Borders Book Club is another option for people who want to find new books to read and to discuss books without the need to commit to meetings. Anyone can join and add reviews of what they are reading, participate in discussions about what they and other members are reading or just get ideas for new books to try.
