Hi. I'm not sure how to best describe myself as my position title certainly does not cover it. I have been Reference Librarian, Reader Services Librarian, Business Development Librarian, Customer Services Librarian and now I also have the added title and duties of Genealogy Librarian, although my duties during this time have not changed greatly, but rather have evolved as with many Library positions. Today in Libraries we are doing things never thought of previously, even 10 years ago. You cannot assume things from the position title, but need to talk to the person and keep communicating. I do all sorts of things from book groups, events, genealogy, customer service, reference work, looking after volunteers to fixing equipment, moving furniture, setting up displays and getting the milk if no one else has. My photo shows me sewing up blankets for "Wrap With Love" with help from the cats, Ruby & Pearl. Luckily you can't see the slippers. Someone thought knitting at the Library would be a good idea and I was just the person to run it. It turned out to be bigger than Ben Hur, with over 70 people becoming involved in knitting for charity. It's a great way to get non-members into the library. I had to take my work home with me and the cats loved it.
